The UK’s leading provider for online booking of rail tickets, developed an application used by Travel Management Companies (TMCs) for their corporate clients. In 2011, the application was used by 500,000 registered users, they handle almost 50% of all UK TMCs rail bookings. This amounted to around 4.7 million rail journeys each year.

In 2011, the client embarked on two key projects: the first was to specify, develop and release a new version of their application, the most significant upgrade they had undertaken since the app’s launch in 2006. The second was to migrate to a new data centre, to accommodate their application, databases and its supporting IT infrastructure. Unfortunately, both projects ran into serious trouble in early 2012 and the clients’ board took the decision to engage expertise from Capita to enable the successful delivery of the businesses critical projects.
