Datacard: Project management office (PMO) - Maturity assessment

Why your organisation needs this service?
  • A recent study by ESI revealed that 60% of large corporates have more than one Project Management Office function, therefore decentralisation is common.
  • Over one third of PMO’s have more than ten members of staff based at different locations. Frequently they are split between IT, other business functions, and board level
  • Project managers sometimes report directly to the PMO function. However more than half of project managers surveyed by ESI were found to report elsewhere
  • PMO functions are increasing in maturity which means we will see more project managers working closely with PMO’s in future. As a consequence, this will allow greater opportunity for standardisation, using embedded tools and processes
