The role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Architect to join our expanding Cyber Security practice.
The Cyber Security Architect is responsible for driving beneficial security change into the business through the development or review of architectures so that they fit business requirements for security, mitigate identified risks, conform to relevant security policies and balance information risk against cost of countermeasures.

Key responsibilities

  • Identifies information risks that arise from potential solution architectures
  • Designs alternate solutions to mitigate identified information risks
  • Ensures that alternate solutions or countermeasures mitigate identified information risks
  • Applies 'standard' security techniques and architectures to mitigate security risks
  • Develops new architectures that mitigate the risks posed by new technologies and business practices
  • Provides consultancy and advice to customers on IA and architectural problems
  • Influences senior stakeholders to comply with architectural principles and objectives

  • Skills & experience

  • Technical background (i.e. from a previous ICT engineering or design role)
  • Previous security engineering experience
  • Experience working within TOGAF or SABSA architectural framework
  • Knowledge and experience with the ISO27001:2013 standard
  • Graduate or similar educational level

  • Desirable:
  • Regulated industry background (i.e. HMG, Financial Services, Health Care etc.)
  • Industrial Control Systems (ICS) / SCADA / CNI experience
  • SABSA or TOGAF certified
  • Knowledge of other architectural frameworks such as MODAF, DoDAF, Zachman etc.
  • Knowledge of modelling languages such as UML and ARCHIMATE
  • Experience with business modelling tools such Archi or Sparx
  • Experience with emerging technology, i.e. IoT, M2M, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) etc.
  • Experience with delivering large scale enterprise wide security transformation programmes
  • MSc in Computer / Network / Cyber Security or a Computer Science/Engineering discipline
  • ISC2 CISSP-ISSAP or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
  • CESG CCP as IA Architect (Senior or Lead grade)
  • Cisco CCNP Security / Checkpoint CCSE / Microsoft MCITP or MCSE (Solution Expert) / VMware VCP

  • Must be able to obtain Security Check (SC) vetting.
